Meal Plans

Am I required to have a meal plan at SLU?

All undergraduate students living in campus residence hall, apartments and commuter to campus and classified as taking at least 12+ credit hours are required to have a meal plan. Meal Plans come with a certain amount of meals and flex dollars, which will automatically be preloaded on your SLU I.D. card prior to the start of each semester. 

What are my meal plan options if I live in a Residence Hall?

Residence Students living in Grand, Reinert, Greisedieck, Fusz, Marguerite, Clemens, Walsh & DeMattias can choose one of the following plans:

What are my meal plan options if I live in apartments or commuting to campus?

Apartment & Commuter Students living in Marchetti East & West, The Village, Grand Forest Apartments and commuting to campus & attending at least 12 credit hours can choose one of the following plans:

*Flex 300 Plan will automatically be preloaded to your SLU I.D. Card prior to the start of each semester.

What is considered a MEAL?

Students are allocated a certain amount of meals with their meal plan that can be used in our newly state of the art, all-you-care-to-eat dining location; Grand Hall. Other popular on-campus dining location will accept meals in exchanged for a predetermined combo meal at locations:


  • Billiken Club & Grill
  • Grille Works
  • Subway
  • Qdoba Mexican Grill

Meal Exchange is only available from Monday to Thursday from 5pm - 10pm. Meals not used at the end of each semester, expires. Be sure to monitor the meals you use.

Can I purchase more meals, if I run out?

Yes, you are now able to purchase more meals if you run out before the semester ends. Purchase the Block 25 Plan to receive 25 Meals for $170. Meals purchase throughout the semester does not expire, they rolll over year-after-year.

What are Flex Dollars?

Flex Dollars are provided in each of the meal plans and can be used at any campus dining location. They work just like a debit card and can only purchase food on campus. Unused Flex Dollars purchased as part of the meal plan carry over from Fall to Spring semester. However, unused meal plan Flex Dollars not used at the end of the school year will expire. Any money that is added onto the card and receive the Bonus Flex (25% free if you live in a campus residence hall or 10% free if you live in an apartment or commuter) will continue to roll over semester to semester.

Can I purchase more flex dollars, if I run out?

Yes, at any time you can purchase Bonus (Flex) Dollars. Bonus (Flex) Dollars is flex dollars purchaded in addition to your meal plan. Bonus (Flex) Dollars does not expire; it rolls over year-after-year and can be used at any dining location on campus. If you purchased Bonus (Flex) Dollars, you'll receive 25% free if you live in a campus residence hall or 10% free if youlive in an apartment or commuter. When are meal plans active?

Meal Plans are active the first day of classes at the start of each semester.

Can I change my meal plan?

Meal Plan changes for campus residents and apartment/commuter students are accepted through the first three (3) weeks of the Fall and Spring semester. After the meal plan change request date, the meal plan you have choosen is your meal plan for the entire semester. Will my meal plan be renewed for the next semester?

The meal plan you chose for Fall semester will automatically roll over to Spring semester. Not happy with the meal plan you chose for Fall? You have the first three (3) weeks in the Spring semester to change that meal plan that fits your lifestyle and school schedule.

How can I keep track of my meal plan – meal swipes and flex dollars?

In Person:

Bring your SLU ID to Parking and Card Services - 33 Dubourg Hall - or swipe your SLU ID at any of the four (4) kiosk located on campus to retrieve and make deposits. Kiosk are located in Busch Student Center, Pius XII Memorial Library, The Medical Center Library and in Vincent C. Immel Law Library.



Log into your mySLU Portal account:

  • Click 'Tools'
  • Click 'SLU ID 'eAccounts'

When you are in your account, you can view your account balances, track purchases, make card deposits and view or update your profile.
